Low Loss Mirrors
REO provides the broadest range of low loss mirrors. Manufactured with our state-of-the-art IBS coating and superpolishing technology, these mirrors guarantee the lowest possible losses. The micro-roughness of these mirrors is < 0.8 Å delivering reflectivities > 99.998% at any wavelength in the 450 nm to 2 μm range.

Superpolishing
Substrate surfaces polished with roughness measuring less than 1A rms are availble from REO. “Superpolishing” refers to processes that are designed to produce surfaces featuring exceptionally low scattering of light throughout the UV to IR wavelength ranges. These superpolished surfaces often demonstrate surface scattering levels lower than 1ppm (wavelength dependent). In terms of surface roughness, this typically means surfaces with significantly less than 1A rms, integrated over spatial scales from approximately 1 micron to 100 microns. Superpolished surfaces may be flat or spherical with a radius of curvature as short as 20mm.
Learn MoreIon Beam Sputtered Coatings (IBS)
REO pioneered the commercial use of IBS Coatings in the late 1980’s. With 22 IBS systems in operation today, REO is home to the world’s largest concentration of IBS optical coating technology. Our IBS technology produces thin films with exceptionally low scatter and absorption along with high mechanical and environmental durability. Utilizing primarily metal oxide materials, REO uses IBS to produce films which function from the UV through the Mid IR (up to 6um).
Learn MoreSpectral Metrology/Laser Photometry
REO maintains an extensive set of lasers for metrology, covering more than 30 wavelengths and bands between 244nm and 10.6um. A range of standard and proprietary measurement techniques allows us to characterize reflectivity, transmission, polarization extinction, retardance and other functional characteristics across all angles of incidence.
Spectrophotometers, both dual-beam and FTIR, cover a wavelength range from 180nm to 20um, with a large number of fixtures to accommodate various sizes and geometries over the full range of incident angles.
