Laser Crystal Coatings
REO provides superior thin film coating services on various gain and nonlinear crystal materials used in a range of laser applications including harmonic oscillators, sum or difference frequency generators, Q-switches, laser gain, and optical parametric amplifiers and oscillators. Utilizing proprietary Ion Beam Sputtering processes, REO manufactures high density thin films for ultra-low loss and superior environmental stability. These coatings demonstrate a unique combination of long lifetime, high laser damage resistance, excellent spectral performance and superior mechanical stability. Sophisticated tooling techniques precisely control the clear aperture and minimize coating overspray. Our proprietary cleaning techniques, precoating treatment processes, and handling protocols maximize yields for customer furnished materials.

Thin Film Engineering
REO Thin Film Engineering is the core technology of our company. Collectively, our engineering team has well over 100 years of TF manufacturing and design experience. We strive to be an extension of your own engineering and product development organization. We leverage our experience to provide you with the most efficient and robust solutions for your component and assembly requirements.
Learn MoreSpectral Metrology/Laser Photometry
REO maintains an extensive set of lasers for metrology, covering more than 30 wavelengths and bands between 244nm and 10.6um. A range of standard and proprietary measurement techniques allows us to characterize reflectivity, transmission, polarization extinction, retardance and other functional characteristics across all angles of incidence.
Spectrophotometers, both dual-beam and FTIR, cover a wavelength range from 180nm to 20um, with a large number of fixtures to accommodate various sizes and geometries over the full range of incident angles.
Learn MoreSurface Metrology
REO maintains 14 Fizeau interferometers for accurate measurement of surface figure, utilizing several different configurations for both in-process and final product measurement of surface figure of flat and spherical surfaces. REO has interferometers at 633nm and 1064nm. These instruments normally have an absolute accuracy of approximately l/100. REO maintains interferometers with apertures of up to 150mm diameter, with lateral resolution of up to 100um.
Learn MoreHigh Laser Damage Threshold Optics
REO consistently delivers optics with exceptional laser damage resistance characteristics because we fabricate, coat and laser damage test our products under highly controlled processes in our state of the art facility in Boulder, CO. REO is unique because of our broad well-equipped in-house laser damage testing lab with several different laser pulsewidths and wavelengths. This vertical integration is critical because reliably achieving high damage threshold requires careful control over every aspect of the design and manufacturing process. This includes precise specification and thorough inspection of incoming raw materials, followed by shaping and polishing of components in a way that minimizes subsurface damage and contamination. We then design and deposit thin film coatings using techniques that avoid contamination and minimize electric field effects.
